Your Chance to live in Ancient Siam
While the USA may have its Hollywood and India its ‘Bollywood’ we in Thailand have our own movie studios, the 700-acre Prommitr Film Studio in Kanchanaburi was created to serve as a filming location of Thailand’s greatest historic trilogy movie The Legend of King Naresuan, (see more on the King and why you see so many statues of roosters in Thailand click here) The King who freed Siam from the ancient Burmese kingdom during the Ayutthaya Era in circa 1584. The set features replicas of gilded Chedi, temples, ordination halls and traditional villages of the ancient Siam and Burmese people.
It is here amongst these replicas of ancient architecture, which now only exist in folklore and legends that history literally comes alive once more. With stages that feature the Sanphet Prasat Throne Hall, the actual hall was burnt to the ground during the many wars fought by the Siamese and Burmese armies and which once housed the original Lion Throne.
You can spend the whole day wandering around the set, featuring its stunning buildings and at the same time should you wish, you can learn more of the history of these ancient kingdoms through exhibitions and lectures. There is also the opportunity to dress up in traditional clothing of the era and have you picture taken as one of the many characters, of this time in the Kingdoms ancient and colourful past
